The two diagrams below compare the efficiency of conventional heating generation and Cogeneration.

The above diagram shows the the hotel taking its electricity from one source and its heat from another, this results in an efficiency of around 50%.

The hotel in figure two uses Cogeneration to achieve in excess of 80% efficiency.

These are simplified energy models for the purpose of illustration but the savings are real and demonstrable.
