Technology Comparison

Exploiting constant underground temperatures throughout the year, GSHP systems use a buried ground loop to transfer this heat from the ground into buildings to supply heating and hot water, providing one of the most energy-efficient ways of heating buildings.

Technology Comparison

The graph below shows the grams of CO2 produced per kWh from eight different heat generating technologies. Electricity has long been the highest producer of CO2 in comparison with traditional heating methods such as gas and oil boilers, however when electricity is used to run GSHP the outcome is very different, with over four times less emissions produced.

Even when comparing GSHP with the latest condensing gas boilers, the graph still shows it is possible to achieve COsavings in excess of 50%.
