ENERGOS is a leader in converting waste into an abundant, carbon-neutral* source of clean energy. It may surprise you, but an ENERGOS AS kWh has lower green house gas impact than a kWh from an oil or coal-fired power plant.**
* The biomass fraction of waste is classified as carbon-neutral. Fossil fractions (e.g. plastic) are not.
** Refer to IEA Bioenergy "Municipal Solid Waste and its Role in Sustainability".
Superior Emissions Record
- ENERGOS emissions are significantly below EU limits (2000/76/EC)
- ENERGOS' uses a patented two-stage thermal treatment process with gasification and high-temperature oxidation
- Fuel is thermally converted into high temperature flue gas, principally O2, CO2, H2O and N2, and stable inorganic bottom ash. The thermal energy in the flue gas is recovered by a Heat Recovery Steam Generator, while contaminants in the flue gas are removed in the flue gas cleaning system
- ENERGOS emissions are regularly verified and approved by Environmental Agencies at all operating plants
The chart below contains emission measurements from the Averoy Energy Recovery Plant, Norway October 2006 by the independent TÜV NORD Umweltschutz. All measurements refer to an O2 content of 11% dry flue-gas.
