CRC Timescale

Timescale

The CRC is split into two phases – Introductory and Capped. The introductory phase timescales are detailed below:

2008 Is the qualification year for the scheme. Your HH electricity consumption during the 2008 calendar year will determine whether you become a full participant in the scheme, or have to make an online information disclosure.

2010 Registration for the scheme is between April and September 2010. Participating organisations will need to provide 2008 HH electricity consumption data and details of their organisational structure.

2011 First sale of carbon allowance will take place in April. Participants in the scheme will be required to pay for 2011/2012 projected emissions. Carbon allowances for this phase will be fixed at £12/tonne CO2. In October 2011 the first recycling payments will be made. You will receive a larger or smaller payment than you originally paid out for the carbon allowance according to your performance against the CRC early action metric.

2013 The first capped price auctions of carbon allowances will commence in April 2013.
