Our BEMS team can help you achieve substantial energy savings through optimising HVAC, lighting and auxiliary equipment on site.
From an initial site survey, highlighting anticipated savings, we can employ a combination of energy saving techniques to ensure energy costs and CO₂ emissions are driven down to a bare minimum. ENER-G’s ‘state of the art’ BEMS controls are compliant with both parts L2A and L2B of the current Building regulations and the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC).
These diagnostic techniques include:
- Accurate temperature control - standard thermostats generally control from +/- 2 to 3ºC, our systems are capable of controlling to an accuracy of better than +/- 0.5ºC. Each degree saved is equivalent to a reduction in your bill of 8 to 10%, whilst improving occupancy comfort
- Zoning and sensor location – where necessary we will re-locate sensor positions to give an accurate representation of the area being controlled and also re-zone the HVAC plant to suit the desired work areas.
- Ventilation control – by linking ventilation to temperature control with the option of ‘timed out’ overrides to remove fumes, we can again significantly reduce energy consumption.
- Monitoring changes - our system will report via email and SMS whenever a change is made to the settings, these are summarised and colour-coded depending on the effect the change will have on energy usage.
- Alarms - our control system is cable of handling most types of alarms from temperature exceptions for cold store areas to compressor failures.
- PC Interface - controlling all HVAC on one PC interface will bring savings in itself. It will empower the simple user, encouraging closer control of the system, with good visible access to plant operation.
- Secure central control - this ensures only selected employee’s may adjust the temperature eliminating staff tampering. This can reduce your bill by up to 10% alone.
- Intelligent time control - the use of optimum start and stop routines accounting for outside and space temperature conditions to control the operating times of your HVAC, maximises the system’s ‘off time’ resulting in huge energy savings.
- Intelligent use of lights - measuring ambient light levels from roof lights and windows and then switching off or dimming artificial lights, combined with fitting energy efficient lighting systems can reduce lighting bills by as much as 60%.
- Stop wasted heat - using a door switch to turn off the heater if the loading bay doors are left open for a preset time.
- Proportional burner control - Reduce space heating energy use by up to 15%, by applying this technique to most gas or oil fired heaters on site.
- Monitoring – through our Smart Metering technology we can see exactly how much energy and water your site is using, management tools may then be implemented to ensure the most efficient use of energy and water.
Through implementing these techniques ENER-G has achieved ongoing fiscal savings across our 300 sites of over £6million on HVAC control, with an average percentage saving of just over 40%.
