Site Integration

There are many different ways to connect the Cogeneration plant to sites services both electrically and thermally. The two most common thermal configurations (and the most common electrical) are shown in the figures 3 and 4.

Figure 3 shows what is called series connection and figure 4 parallel connection. Whichever method is selected it is imperative that the Cogeneration set is treated as the lead boiler. Other boilers must be held off until all the heat from the CHP is utilised.

The electrical connection is taken direct to the site's main electrical distribution panel at LV. It is possible to connect to LV or HV and to others points in the site's distribution network but the example shown is preferred for its simplicity and low cost.
