Environmental Performance

"Energy from waste can make an important contribution towards sustainable development as a source of renewable energy, reducing the use of fossil fuel and cutting emissions of greenhouse gases."

(2000) UK Government, "Waste not, Want not"

By displacing fossil fuel and taking an advantage of the age-old problem of man made waste the pyrolysis process has secured a long-term future in the renewable energy market.

Emissions from the process meet all the latest European standards, without the need for post process flue gas treatment. Flue gases are continuously monitored in line with the latest requirements of the Environment Agency under their authorisation process (IPPC).

Additional environmental benefits include:

  • The production of renewable 'green' energy which often attracts Government financial incentives such as ROCs (Renewable Obligation Certificates) in the UK
  • An alternative solution to land fill
  • Enables the local handling of waste
  • Reduced green house gas and CO2 emissions
  • Addresses concern about global warming as produces a positive environmental effect
  • Contributes towards government targets such as dealing with waste and environmental concerns
  • Contributes to achieving Kyoto protocol commitments
